After Party and Post-Event Cleaning in London

Soluxe Cleaning Services provides after-party and post-event cleaning across London, for private hosts, venues, and event organisers who need a space back to normal quickly.

We cover same-day and overnight work, including Sunday mornings and the early hours, because that is when this job actually needs doing.

The Clock Is Most of the Service

Nearly everything that makes after-party cleaning difficult is a function of how long the mess has been sitting there.

A red wine spill that is still wet lifts out. The same spill left overnight and walked on is a different job entirely. Wine gets its colour from anthocyanins, the same pigments found in berries and beetroot, and those bond to carpet fibres as the wine dries, which is why a dried and trodden stain is dramatically harder to recover than one treated while wet. Wool takes it worst.

The same applies almost everywhere. Spirits and mixers dry into a sugar film that becomes progressively harder to break down. Wax hardens into the pile. Food residue sets onto worktops and into grout.

If you have a venue handover time or a deposit riding on the condition of a space, the sequencing matters more than the cleaning does. Tell us the deadline when you call and we will build the visit around it rather than around a standard slot.

OvenWhat Actually Needs Doing the Morning After

Most people expect the clean to be about tidying. In practice, the tidying is the quick part and three specific things take the time.

The first is the floor. Spirits, mixers, and beer leave a sugar residue that a mop does not remove, it redistributes. That is why a floor can be mopped twice and still pull at your shoes. It needs a degreaser, dwell time, and a rinse pass with clean water, and on hard floors it often needs machine work rather than hand work.

The second is glass. Breakages happen at the edges of a dancefloor, around bins, in doorways, and outdoors, and fragments travel much further than people assume. We work a systematic sweep rather than a visual one, because the risk is not the glass you can see. This matters particularly where children or pets will be in the space the next day, or where guests have been barefoot.

The third is waste volume, which almost always exceeds what anyone planned for. More on that below, because it is the part that most commonly goes wrong.

Everything else, the surfaces, the kitchen, the bathrooms, the furniture reset, is straightforward work that simply takes hands.

Spills, Wine and the Stains That Set Overnight

We treat spills by type rather than by a single method, because the wrong approach makes several of them permanent.

Wine, fruit juice, and cola are dye stains. They are treated cold, blotted from the outside inwards, and where they have set, worked with an oxidising spotter and hot water extraction to pull the broken-down pigment back out of the fibre. Heat applied early, which is the instinct most people have, sets the tannins instead of lifting them.

Beer and spirits are sugar and yeast, so they are a residue and odour problem more than a colour problem, and the concern is what has soaked into the underlay rather than what shows on the surface.

Food, sauces, and grease are treated as protein and oil and need a different chemistry again.

We will tell you honestly what is likely to come out and what is not. A wine stain on a wool carpet that dried overnight and had fifty people walk across it may improve considerably without disappearing, and you should hear that from us before we start rather than discover it afterwards.

These four are the reason venues add cleaning charges, and they are worth understanding separately.

Candle wax cannot be scraped off carpet without damaging the pile, and cannot be scraped off timber or stone without marking it. It is removed by hardening it first or by warming it and absorbing it out, depending on the surface. On porous stone, wax penetrates and needs drawing out rather than lifting off.

Chewing gum is frozen and lifted rather than pulled, which avoids stringing it through the surrounding fibres.

Glitter and table confetti are the ones that surprise people. Both work down into carpet pile, into upholstery seams, into the folds of table linen, and into the edges of hard floors, and a single vacuum pass removes perhaps half of it. It needs repeat passes from different directions and hand work at the edges. Biodegradable confetti behaves worse than it sounds, because once it has been trodden into a damp floor it leaves colour behind.

If your event involved any of these, say so when you book. It changes the time estimate, and an estimate given without knowing is an estimate that will be wrong.

When Something Worse Has Happened

Vomit and other bodily fluids come with the territory at some events, and there is no awkwardness in telling us. These need enzyme treatment rather than disinfectant alone. Disinfectant addresses the surface, but the odour comes from residue that has soaked into carpet backing, underlay, or grout, and it returns within days if only the top layer has been dealt with. Our teams carry the right products and PPE and deal with it without comment.

After-Party Cleaning in London Flats and Shared Buildings

A party in a flat brings constraints that a house does not.

We work quietly during early-hours visits, which matters when the clean itself can generate a second round of neighbour complaints. Lifts and communal hallways are protected where we are carrying waste through them, and we clear the route rather than leaving it for the building’s own cleaners, which is one of the faster ways to create a problem with a managing agent. Where a concierge or porter controls access, we can coordinate with them directly if you give us the details in advance. Many of our early-hours jobs run without the client present at all.

For hired venues, the clean is usually contractual rather than optional. Standard hire agreements require the space to be left in the condition it was received, all waste removed, and the handover made by a stated exit time, with cleaning costs deducted from the security deposit where it is not.

That means the real deliverable is not a clean space, it is a clean space by a specific hour, documented.

We run overnight turnarounds for conferences, exhibitions, launches, private hire, and weddings, working to the venue’s own handover checklist where one exists. We photograph the space at handover so you have evidence of condition if the deposit is later queried.

Where a venue trades the following morning, we work back from opening time rather than forward from when we arrive.

Waste Removal, and Why It Usually Goes Wrong

This is the part that catches people out, and it works differently depending on who you are.

For a private household, the issue is volume. A sixty-guest party generates far more than a fortnightly domestic collection will take, and bags left beside the bins are a fly-tipping risk with your own address inside them. We bag, segregate glass and recycling, and can arrange licensed removal where the volume exceeds what your collection will accept.

For a business, venue, or event organiser, it is a legal matter. Under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 you have a duty of care over your waste that does not end when it leaves the premises. Waste must go to a registered carrier, with a written transfer note kept for at least two years, and if waste you produced is later fly-tipped by an unlicensed contractor the liability can still come back to you.

Ask any after-party cleaning company for their waste carrier registration before they take anything away. If they cannot produce it, the exposure is yours rather than theirs.

Garden Parties, Marquees and Outdoor Spaces

Outdoor events leave a different profile of work. Cigarette ends and bottle caps in gravel and borders, trodden food across decking and patio, marquee footprints on lawn, and glass in grass, which is the one genuine hazard on this list.

We clear and wash down decking, patio, and paths, sweep and pick over planted areas and gravel, and deal with marks left on hard landscaping by spills and cooking. Where a patio or driveway needs more than washing down, our patio and driveway cleaning service covers pressure work.
